Welcome to Social Place, a vibrant haven for those craving Chinese cuisine nestled in the heart of Hong Kong at 2/F The L. Place, 139 Queen's Road Central. This modern Chinese restaurant blends contemporary design with traditional flavors, creating a unique dining experience that caters not only to locals but also to international visitors looking for an authentic taste of Hong Kong.

The cuisine at Social Place offers a delightful selection of dishes that evoke the rich culinary heritage of China while providing a touch of modern flair. Notably, the restaurant's dim sum has received mixed reviews—while some diners like jim brusin appreciate the quality, they note a deviation from the authentic Hong Kong tea house standard. However, others found the freshness and presentation of dishes like the sweet and sour pork and pigeon charming and well-executed, as highlighted by Samantha Tong.

The menu also dazzles with offerings like the intriguing cold drunken clams and a heartwarming coconut chicken soup that pleasantly surprises with its creamy consistency and fragrant aroma. Don't miss the scallion noodles, a rarity that may leave you yearning for more. The clay pot rice is an occasional highlight, although the portion size might leave some diners wanting more, as Zoe Chan pointed out with her experience of waiting too long for her shrimp dumplings.

Social Place’s ambiance is a harmonious blend of spacious, modern seating with a relaxed vibe, making it an excellent spot for both casual outings and special occasions. The restaurant's atmosphere has been praised for being a perfect balance between lively and comfortable, making it a popular choice for gatherings with friends and family, as noted by Bruce Butt.

Though the restaurant does not impose time limits on your dining experience, allowing you to savor each bite at your own pace, be aware that it’s essential to make a reservation, especially on weekends. Immerse yourself in the enticing aromas and vibrant flavors as you explore the menu, but keep in mind that high-quality dishes come with a price tag; as K Chen remarked, a satisfying meal can set you back around HKD 500 for two.

With its contemporary take on traditional Chinese flavors and a commitment to freshness and quality, Social Place invites diners to relish every moment. Whether you’re a gourmand or someone simply looking to enjoy a good meal with friends, Social Place promises a dining experience that is both enjoyable and memorable. Make your way to Social Place, where every meal is crafted to create happiness on a plate.

Dim Sum is quite good though lack the authentic HK Tea house standard. For the century egg Dishes esp the one with tofu, taste may not be acceptable by foreigners and some locals. Spent abt HKD70-80 per pax.

Atmosphere was great! I made a reservation beforehand but you may not need it if you’re visiting on a weekday night. Quite spacious seating and service is good. : food was fresh and presented well, recommend their sweet and sour pork and pigeon. The clay pot rice portion is quite small but the flavour was delicious. Friends from Canada were very happy with the overall experience

Taste was good. Kitchen missed to prepare the shrimp dumplings which we had to wait almost an hour to get it. The place is closed at 10pm but at 9:45pm, staff there would try to push you to leave.

The location not bad. More of a modern style type of Chinese restaurant. Not very traditional type of dim sums or food. But still good. Fairly comfortable seating. If big tables, can sit on the seatings with sofa. One of the advantages i think it’s not hard to make reservation and more importantly is that it doesn’t have time limits on it. The most annoying is those with time limits during lunch hours. To be fair, don’t blame those restaurants with time limit.

Money can buy happiness and this meal is happiness. Every dish i ordered was well executed, particularly liked the cold drunken clams, coconut chicken soup and the scallion noodles, which is kinda crazy because it is rare for me to love more than 50% of the dishes anywhere. However it comes with a heavy price tag of 500hkd for 2, not an amount Im ready to fork out easily (we were still hungry). It is still a meal i think about often, and will definitely come back when im feeling rich.

Love the pigeon, it's juicy and meaty and reasonably priced. The razor clams cold dish is disappointing, I would prefer the hot one instead, the flavouring was just too overwhelming. The duck tongue is good but would also prefer if there is a non spicy version as a variety. The dim sum appearance is definitely very appealing! The pear dessert is just too sweet, I can only eat the flesh and cannot drink the sweet soup at all.... I have been here before and I deliberately chose food (except pigeon) that I didn't have last time.. Must try: - pigeon - sweet and sour pork - beetroot dumplings - coconut chicken souo Once is enough: - abalone tart - razor clams cold dish - grouper dumplings Considering that this is a local restaurant, the staff are very well mannered, friendly, open to provide suggestion in a polite way, approachable. Great customer service. Great amenities provided and spacious table. But it's very loud in the restaurant....
